Many of you have been asking about the yellow ribbon in my logo-
So I wanted to share the reason it is there and why its important to me and my family.
As you probably know - the yellow ribbon has a long history going back many centuries. Originally it began as a song about a young lady and the love of her life, which went off to war.
Since then it has been commonly used to show support for our military. It became very popular during the gulf war, Iran hostage crisis and during the Iraq Invasion of 2003.
The yellow ribbon became very personal to me in 2016, when on Mother’s day weekend; my son Blade told me he was joining the Navy. A year later, again on Mother’s Day Weekend, I had the honor and privilege of attending his graduation from boot camp in Chicago.
In February of this year, just before Covid and just as I was begging to launch my campaign for District Judge, Blade left for his second deployment, this time, to the Middle East!
So I included the yellow ribbon in my campaign to show support for my son, his fellow soldiers and all of our military, past and present. Their willingness to make sacrifices for all of us is something I always reflect on. I personally believe that this unselfish service of country and community depicts what makes us different from as a nation and provides my motivation to serve our community daily.
I am a very proud military mom and I hope you can join me in supporting our military and praying for their safe return of each and every one of them.
I look forward to his homecoming, very soon, just in time for the birth of his first child and my first grandchild.
So, that’s the story on the yellow ribbon. Someday soon, I hope to share with you other exciting news, so stay tuned…
Thank you, stay safe and God bless
